Hi Monday!!! I just wanted to let you know that I’ve just tried your Sensitive shampoo + conditioner and holy cow....I don’t even know how to explain how impressed I am!!! What is this sorcery!? My hair feels clean, soft, smooth, and LIGHT!! I can never get it to feel this way unless I’m getting my haircut at the salon! And it dried a lot quicker than usual too? How!? Can I just say ..FREAKING LOVE YOUR HAIR PRODUCTS After all the hype I jumped on the bandwagon for my extra long hair down to my bum and your smooth shampoo smelt amazing made my hair extra soft and silky and also dried in half the usual time ! After I straightened it, it was so shiny and silky and I couldn’t stop touching it ! The volume conditioner added a lil extra somethin! Just wanted to say how much I love your products! I purchased the sensitive range, as I get really bad psoriasis on my scalp. I have very curly and frizzy hair and I used Monday for the first time the other day. My hair was instantly softer and didn’t have that tacky knotted feel when I put the shampoo through! left my hair feeling super soft and full of volume! Highly recommend- even for curly hair, which is tough to find in a super market product!

Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT)

This ingredient is an antioxidant, and is used in our formulas at a concentration of 0.05%. There are no safety or use restrictions imposed by the New Zealand Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) in Australia, nor in the European Commission’s database on cosmetic substances (CosIng).

Jojoba oil

Known to be one of the best oils for beauty, Jojoba oil is loaded with nourishing and healing lipids for healthy, shiny hair, and a balanced scalp. Our Jojoba oil is sourced from Argentina and is proudly GMO-free.

Cetrimonium Chloride

This ingredient functions as an antimicrobial agent. The NZ EPA and the European Commission have stated that the concentration of this ingredient should be no more than 1.0%. In MONDAY, this ingredient is only found in our Conditioner range at a maximum concentration of 0.09%

Hexyl Cinnamal

This ingredient is a fragrance. The International Fragrance Association has published its standards for this ingredient, recommending that the concentration for rinse-off hair products should not exceed 19%. MONDAY uses this ingredient at a maximum concentration of 0.08%.

Benzyl Alcohol

This ingredient acts as a fragrance-enhancer in our Shampoo ranges, and a solvent in our Conditioners. MONDAY formulations only contain 0.1% concentration of Benzyl Alcohol, which is a tenth of the maximum 1.0% recommended by the European Commission. In 2009, the FDA approved a Benzyl Alcohol lotion (with a concentration of 5%) as a prescription medication for the treatment of head lice (Pediculosis capitis) infestation in patients aged 6 months and older – highlighting that this ingredient is most definitely safe in the minimal concentrations that MONDAY employs.

Phenoxyethanol

NICNAS states there are no restrictions in effect in Australia. In New Zealand and the European Union, concentrations of Phenoxyethanol should not exceed 1.0%. In MONDAY, the highest concentration of this ingredient is 0.5%.

Helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed) Extract

A light, nourishing oil extracted from sunflower seeds, which moisturises the hair and scalp.

Ethyl Hexanediol

This ingredient functions as a skin-conditioning agent in our Shampoo ranges, and as a solvent in our Conditioners. The concentration of Ethyl Hexanediol in our formulations is only 0.00006%, and there are no restrictions imposed by the NZ EPA, NICNAS, or found in CosIng.

Tocopheryl Acetate

This ingredients serves as a skin-conditioning agent and an antioxidant. In a peer-reviewed scientific journal published in 2018, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel of qualified experts concluded that Tocopheryl Acetate is safe as used in cosmetic products, and was reported to have been used in rinse-off products in concentrations up to 10%. MONDAY, in contrast, only contains a maximum concentration of 0.01% of this ingredient.

Linalool

This ingredient is a fragrance and is found in many flowers and spice plants. NICNAS states there are no restrictions in effect in Australia. In New Zealand and the European Union, there are no safety or toxicity concerns, however, the presence of the ingredient must be indicated when concentrations are over 0.01% in rinse-off products – some individuals may be sensitive or allergic to Linalool, so indicating its presence is for their benefit (and not due to toxicity concerns). In MONDAY, we employ no more than 0.024% concentration.

Pisum sativum (Pea) Extract

A water-based extract from pea sprouts, which lengthens the time hair is in it’s growth phase (anagen), shortens its falling phase (telogen), and wakes hair from its resting phase (catogen). This results in thicker and longer hair.

Amodimethicone

This ingredient provides a hair-conditioning function, therefore it is only found in MONDAY Conditioner formulations. The highest concentration of Amodimethicone in any of our formulations is 1.08%. In a peer-reviewed scientific journal published in 2003, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel of qualified experts concluded that Amodimethicone is safe as used in cosmetic products, that is, in concentrations of 3.0% or less.

Shea butter

A rich, dense extract from the nuts of the Shea Tree in Africa. Shea butter is deeply moisturising and creates a moisture lock, sealing the hair and scalp from moisture loss. Shea butter also helps to heal the scalp, and repair damaged hair. Sourced ethically through fair trade by our shea butter supplier.

D-panthenol (pro vitamin b5)

The ‘gold standard’ moisturiser. Incredible for sensitive scalps, as it soothes, heals and nourishes dry, delicate skin. D-panthenol also helps prevent split ends and improves hair elasticity. Our panthenol is produced in a state of the art facility in Scotland, who have won the CEFIC award for sustainable production processes.

Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract -

Stimulates the scalp by increasing blood flow, which feeds hair follicles and increases hair growth and regeneration.

11 amino acids (arginine, aspartic acid, glycine, alanine, serine, valine, isoleucine, proline, threonine, histidine, phenylalanine) -

Known as the building blocks of proteins, these amino acids repair damaged hair and increase its strength.

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract

Used to cleanse and deeply moisturise the hair and scalp.

Cynara scolymus (Artichoke Leaf) Extract

Has an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect, making it ideal for sensitive scalps.

DL-a-Tocopheryl Acetate

Otherwise known as vitamin E, used as an anti-oxidant to preserve our product, while also nourishing the hair and scalp.

Hydrolyzed Rice Protein

A gluten-free protein molecule, which promotes collagen production within the scalp, and reinforces hair strands to add strength, and assists in holding moisture within the hair structure.

Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) / Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT)

These ingredients are used for their antifungal and antibacterial properties. A search of CosIng shows that for rinse-off products, concentrations of Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT) must not exceed 0.0015% – a position reflected in the Poisons Standard currently in force in Australia. MONDAY Shampoos contain no MIT/MCIT, and in our conditioners, this ingredient has the lowest concentration across all formulations. In fact, the highest combined concentration of MIT and MCIT in any MONDAY formula is just 0.000031% – far below any level of concentration to be considered toxic or hazardous. Of that amount, MIT only accounts for up to 0.000008%. MONDAY Shampoos contain no MIT/MCIT.
